Do you have prospects who have expressed an interest in your business, they've been in your pipeline for awhile, in fact a L-O-N-G while and they're just not making the commitment? Of course you do! We all have those notorious "Fence Sitters"!
I have found that on average a person takes six weeks
to make a decision to join a home-based business so
a certain amount of follow-up is necessary, in fact vital.
Would you like to know exactly what to say to determine
where your prospect stands and get them to tell you
EXACTLY what needs to happen in order for them to
join?
I knew you'd say YES! So, here it is. It's called The Scale of 1-10.
You simply say:
"I know you've been considering joining XYZ Company for quite
sometime now, ProspectFirstName. Let me ask you,
where would you put yourself on a scale of 1-10 in
terms of being ready to join, with 1 being you're not at
all interested and 10 being you're ready to get started?"
Now here's the hard part! Sit back, shut up and let them tell you!
If they say anything other than a 1, you say, "Great!
Please tell me, what do we need to do to get you to
a 10?"
Then just be quiet and let them tell you.
This is magic! They will tell you EXACTLY how to
sponsor them. If they have concerns or objections
you are not sure how to handle, do a 3-way with a
team leader.
I've used this technique for many years and it really
works!
Call you Fence Sitters today and take their temperature
on a scale of 1-10. It's easy and you'll be so glad you
did!

This was a question one of my Dialing for Dollars Workshop Participants asked me the other day. Great question and one I am sure a lot of new marketers ponder. Here was my reply:
"I was not born an expert either! No one was. We all had to develop our skills, our reputation and our credibility and our following over time. It is a journey, not an event! It takes time and persistence and the best time to start is now!"So how do you get started?
1. To Be a Good Leader, You Must First Be a Good Follower. In our beginning stages my husband Pat and I attended every team and company conference call and event. We consistently volunteered to share our testimonial. We consistently brought guests. We asked our team leaders what we could do to help and we took part in presenting the training. It wasn't long before they were sending us referrals and edifying us as leaders.
2. Create a Fast Start Success Story. For example, with one company we were with we personally sponsored 12 people in 24 hours, 30 within the first week and had a team of 100 in the fist 30 days. That went on to duplicate into 18,000 members in 18 months. People are attracted to success so it's so worth sacrificing your time in the beginning to create a story that will last a life-time! So, no matter how long you've been at it, make today be DAY #1 and put your head down and create a 30 - 90 day success story. Set a goal that is achievable but that causes you to really stretch and expand. Eat, drink, breathe, sleep your business. Put everything else you can aside and FOCUS! Make a public declaration of your goal and find an Accountability Partner to help hold you to it and JUST DO IT!!!
3. Borrow Someone Else's Story. When I first started in Network Marketing over 20 years ago, I told my upline's success story (she happened to be my sister, Lisa) and I told everyone that I was going to do what she had done. The more I told her story, the more committed I became. I followed her blueprint and I achieved what she had in exactly the same amount of time. This also held me accountable because I told so many people what I was going to accomplish.
4. Fake it Until You Make It! Now, I don't mean put on airs or be phony. What I do mean is: DO WHAT LEADERS DO. Think of any leader you admire and write down a list of the qualities you admire in them and then put your name at the top of that list and adopt those qualities in yourself.
5. Start Building Your Following Now. It doesn't matter if you are brand new and you only have one or two people in your pipeline. Plug them into a system! Get on Face Book and Twitter and You Tube and start interacting. Study what other successful people are doing and adopt one new thing at a time. Start your own blog. I am not an expert blogger and I didn't take any classes, I just started. That's half the battle right there...and then you just improve a little every day.
Great leaders do not make excuses because they understand you cannot make excuses and money (and a difference) at the same time.Leaders take action and they move consistently toward what they intend to create. They expand their circle of influence over time by sharing ideas and resources of value to others. They're willing to try new things and they know that there is no such thing as failure, only feedback.
What small step will you take today, RIGHT NOW on revealing to the world the leader you were born to be? Go ahead! Declare it to the world in the comments section below. I for one am very interested in what you are committing to NOW!
To Your Success!

The other day, Bonnie, a new distributor expressed her frustration about prospecting. She's working her business consistently, doing all of the right things, but no one has joined her yet. I love teaching with metaphors...watch this video to hear my Potato Patch Metaphor that I told Bonnie.
I would LOVE to hear your comments below! What would you tell Bonnie and other new distributors as they're just getting started?

"To live your life in your own way... to reach for the goals you have set for yourself... to be the you that you want to be - that is success." ~Mary Loberg
This month we celebrate Independence Day in the United States. In conversation with myself, I asked, "what do freedom and independence mean to me and how have they manifested in my life?"
Twenty-two years ago, I chose the industry of network marketing because it embodied the principles of freedom and independence. I know of no other place where we have the freedom to work how, where,
when and with whom we choose, and the ability to attain true financial independence for ourselves and our families.
As with any journey, there can be many bumps, hurdles and detours along the way; but just knowing that in overcoming every obstacle you are closer to your goal of building a true legacy, an empire of
your very own, you are manifesting the ultimate expression of freedom.
Today, I give thanks to the industry of network marketing for setting me FREE!!!
I know I'm not alone in believing that network marketing is the ultimate vehicle in achieving financial and personal independence. We want to hear your expression of freedom! Please share with us why you've chosen network marketing as your vehicle for achieving freedom and independence. Let's take the time to inspire and be inspired...it's the right thing to do!
